Newborn photos by Mary Morris

Capturing the newborn and baby phase of life is my absolute favorite. I loved becoming a mother and now love to look back at the photos I have when my children were babies.

I skipped a lot of the photo sessions because I thought it would be too difficult. Having 3 children in 3.5 years was a lot. Trying to get the whole family dressed and to a photographer for a 4 hour newborn session in a hot studio 7 days after giving birth was just not on my BINGO card. But as my wedding clients started to have babies, I developed lifestyle newborn sessions and found something I love.

It’s so easy. It’s so real. It’s just your family in your setting. It’s peaceful and calm. Toddlers can bring me books to read and can have a quick snack if needed. Mom can nurse at home in her favorite chair. Dad can change shirts if we get some spit up on it. It just seems so much more relaxed and simple and enables me to capture the authentic feel of your family. Everyone’s home is different and reflects them and I love being able to use the colors and textiles in your space to capture photos of your family. And you do not have to clean up. Honestly, I have 3 kids and a dog and I have lived through the chaos. I will just choose a spot in your home with good light and we will just pick up that spot.

I will pose the baby and wrap them up and we will do some of the baby solo but we will include lots of snuggles and cuddles with the parents and older siblings as well. The session usually takes about 45 minutes and I try to do them during the week when both parents are home within 2 weeks of coming home from the hospital.
